Centre for Academic Literacies & English Communication Skills The Centre for Academic Literacies & English Communication Skills (CALECS) is an English language support unit at the University of Malta.

It runs an international MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL. The Centre for English Language Proficiency (CELP) conducts research in English language use at the University of Malta and beyond. CELP aims to help students acquire the skills and tools necessary to operate in English within an academic context. Those interested in obtaining more information about the different units and support systems offered should contact CELP for advice.

And that’s a wrap for IVACS2026!

Our final day concluded with an inspiring plenary by Tove Larsson, following another morning of excellent presentations.

IVACS2026 has been a great success, and we are grateful to all our keynote speakers, presenters, chairs, delegates, and everyone who helped make the conference such a memorable event.

We hope everyone enjoyed their time at the University of Malta, made new connections, and left inspired by the ideas and conversations shared over the past three days. Thank you for being part of IVACS2026, and we wish you all a safe journey home!

Day 2 at IVACS2026 was another successful day!

Thank you to Phil Durrant for the wonderful plenary on task variation in school and university writing. We also enjoyed a range of insightful talks showcasing the participants’ engaging research. Well done to all!

Today marked the start of IVACS2026 at the Valletta Campus, and what a fantastic beginning it has been!

We were delighted to open the conference with an inspiring plenary by Niall Curry. This was followed by a series of engaging presentations showcasing the innovative research of our participants and sparking engaging discussions throughout the day.

A heartfelt thank you to all our speakers, attendees, and everyone who contributed to making the first day such a success. We look forward to another exciting day tomorrow.
