The Department of Disability Studies is pleased to invite you to an upcoming public lecture presented by Prof. Katerina Mavrou on the landscape of inclusive education and assistive technology in Cyprus.

Date: Monday, November 9, 2026

The lecture is free and open to the public.

This lecture will be delivered in person. It will provide a comprehensive overview of how inclusion is understood, organised, and implemented within the Cypriot education system. Drawing on recent research projects, the talk will highlight emerging technological advances that support inclusive learning environments.

Through a real-world case study, Prof. Mavrou will address key questions regarding:

The participation and integration of children with disabilities in mainstream education.
Classroom organization, classroom support, and the practical use of assistive technology.
The evolving roles of teachers and educational professionals.
The provision of specialized and multidisciplinary support.
Whether you are an educator, researcher, parent, student, or policymaker, we welcome you to join us for this insightful discussion.

Yesterday, the Faculty for Social Wellbeing had the pleasure of hosting a Freshers’ Meeting for our 1st-year students! 🎓✨

The Department of Disability Studies was represented by the Head of Department (HoD), Dr Amy Camilleri Zahra, who joined in welcoming and encouraging our new students as they begin this exciting chapter.

It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome our newest students, introduce them to the faculty, and help them begin their academic journey with confidence and enthusiasm. 🤝📚
