Centenary College of Louisiana is a private, four-year arts and sciences college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Founded in 1825, it is the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Centenary is one of 16 colleges and universities constituting the Associated Colleges of the South (A

CS) and is regularly rated as one of the top colleges in the South. Mentioned in the Templeton Guide's Colleges that encourage Character Development and in Peterson's Top Colleges for Science, the College is also highly ranked in U.S. In 2009, the Princeton Review tagged Centenary College as one of the "Best 371 Colleges," and Newsweek named us the "Hottest Liberal Arts School You've Never Heard Of." If that wasn't enough, Forbes.com named Centenary College one of "America's Best College" and one of "America's Best Private Colleges." Comment Policy:

Centenary cut the ribbon on a new phase of Mickle Hall's renovations marking the completion of new ADA-compliant ramps into the science building. The ramps make access more convenient, and the project created a new entrance out of Mickle Hall into The Quad. Read more at Centenary.edu/News.

"Close interaction with my professors was key to keeping me on track, and I was always taught by a professor, never a teaching assistant. Centenary’s rigorous reading and approach to critical thinking prepared me so well, that grad school was actually made easier. Centenary was an essential part of putting me on course for my career success.” Learn more about how you can make a difference at centenary.edu/socialchange.

Congratulations to alumna Rebecca Kay Vacha '16 on this incredible achievement!!

Congratulations to two of our outstanding high school music programs for earning the state’s top music honors from the Louisiana Music Educators Association!

Airline High School made LMEA history! Over the summer, Airline Choral Director Rebecca Vacha submitted anonymous recordings to LMEA. Those recordings were judged by out-of-state evaluators for the prestigious Standard of Excellence Award, the highest honor an ensemble can receive through LMEA. And since the adjudicators couldn't choose between Airline's two submitted choir ensembles, Treble Chorale and Virtuo, they awarded the Standard of Excellence to both ensembles, a LMEA first!

Additionally, the recording submitted of the Parkway High School Wind Ensemble was a grade level 6, which is considered the highest level of difficulty in wind band literature. Only two high schools receive the Standard of Excellence Award each year – and you get only one guess which band program won. Congratulations to Mark MInton and Parkway’s Wind Ensemble!

We are incredibly proud of these directors and talented student musicians for setting the gold standard of music excellence in Bossier Parish.
Congrats!
