Your Opportunity Starts Here! In 1967, Southern University at Shreveport made its humble beginnings here, on what is now called the Martin Luther King, Jr.

Campus. From the beginning, the priority has been to aid people from diverse backgrounds to improve the quality of their lives and become contributing participants in this community's cultural and economic development. As the needs of the Shreveport/Bossier City metropolitan area have changed over the years, so has the Southern University at Shreveport campus and its role as an active participant in raising the level of excellence for the community.

The Roadmap to Better Health event, presented by SUSLA’s Office of Human Resources, brought our community together inside the Jesse Stone Building! Attendees connected with experts, explored wellness and financial resources, and met community and health vendors.

Dr. Aubra J. Gantt, Chancellor and SUSLA’s Office of Human Resources would like to thank Dr. Richard Mansour, LSU Health Shreveport Professor of Medicine and Director of the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, and his team for bringing the Ochsner Mobile Health Unit and providing free cancer screenings. Early detection is key, and the event helped ensure students, faculty, staff, and community members had access to information and resources to support healthier lives.

Thank you to everyone who participated and took a step toward a healthier, happier future!
