Techie Tuesday! 🎉 We're thrilled to introduce LaDonna Brown as our new Director of IT Business Services!

LaDonna has been a cornerstone of W&M for 11 years where she started as a Travel Account Specialist, earned her way to Travel Program Manager, and most recently held down the fort as Assistant Director of Travel Management, where she excelled at keeping all travel and business meal operations running for the entire W&M community.

In her new role, LaDonna takes the helm of IT Business Services--leading financial strategy, procurement, HR, and budget operations for the IT division. Big job for someone with exactly the right background.

When she's not leading from the front, you can find LaDonna being a soccer mom, binge-watching her favorite tv shows, enjoying family game nights, and even traveling!

Computer Science major Sam Oliver spent a day immersed in the world of IT during our Winter Externship program this January!

His experience included:
✨ Shadowing IT professionals across departments - from High Performance Computing to the Help Desk
✨ One-on-one meetings with our CIO and Information Security Officer
✨ An exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of William & Mary's network systems (his favorite part!)

The Winter Externship, run in collaboration with the W&M Career Development & Professional Engagement, gives students incredible hands-on experience in their fields of interest.

Techie Tuesday: A Story of Growth and Success!

We love sharing success stories from our IT team, and this one's particularly special!

Starting in July 2022 as a Technology Support Analyst, John Carpenter climbed the ladder with impressive speed - moving through Technology Support Engineer and Senior Technology Support Engineer roles before landing his current position as HPC Systems Engineer with Research Computing this past September.

These days he's helping power some of William & Mary's most complex research initiatives through high-performance computing. And when he clocks out? You can find Carpenter crafting artisan breads that sound absolutely amazing - from classic baguettes and ciabatta to sourdough and naturally leavened multigrain loaves. Help us celebrate this incredible achievement! Way to go, and here's to continued success! 💚💛
