A new interdisciplinary course at William & Mary is exploring a fundamental question: What does it mean to be wise?

Cultivating Wisdom for Life, Business, and Society, brings together philosophy, psychology, and business to examine wisdom as both a concept and a practical skill.

Co-taught by Professors Michael G. Luchs and Jonah Goldwater, the course is cross-listed with philosophy and open to students across disciplines.

Through a mix of classical texts and contemporary research, students explore decision-making, ethical reasoning, and how to apply sound judgment in complex, real-world contexts.

From 14 teams in 2016 to 20 teams across the US, Canada, and UK, the growth has been incredible. Thank you to every organizer, judge, partner, and alumni who made it possible.
