Everything Fashion Marketing & Enterprise student Ana Torres was up to during Melbourne Fashion Week.

It started at our own campus where we hosted a Seamless Australia event, a panel on designing fashion for circularity and how larger businesses can rethink their production processes, with connections made including the Global Head of Product Innovation and Sustainability at Rip Curl.

From there, a talk on AI-powered retail and sustainable fashion, where Textile Recyclers Group’s co-founder shared how old fabrics, clothing and shoes are being given a second life as pigments and acrylic pieces for interiors.

It wrapped up at the FashLab Business Forum, with two standout panels: 'Get Noticed', on capturing the attention of stylists, journalists and fashion festivals, and 'Make It Pay', because exposure doesn’t pay the rent.

Last week, we celebrated as our graduates crossed the stage at the Sydney graduation, marking the culmination of years of hard work, creativity and dedication, surrounded by proud family, friends and faculty.

Mary Webster’s designs are now on shelves 👀

Last year, we were thrilled to collaborate with Collins Debden Australia on a design competition that gave our students the opportunity to apply their creative skills to a real-world brief. The competition showcased exceptional talent, with designs recognised by one of Australia’s leading stationery brands and shared with an international audience, giving students the experience of responding to a professional brief, developing their portfolios, and seeing their work move from concept to commercial product.

Most excitingly, Mary, the winner now has her designs available in the market.

This ongoing collaboration reflects the value of industry-connected learning, giving students authentic opportunities to build confidence, strengthen employability skills, and prepare for careers in the creative industries.

We can’t wait to see what the next iteration of the competition brings.

Photography student Thomas Pickton spent NRL grand final day behind the lens, on assignment.

From a Q&A with renowned photographer Delly Carr, picking up tips on camera settings along the way, to walking through the players’ tunnel and out onto the field, where Thomas spent the rest of the night shooting pitch-side.
