The EdUHK x Oracle seminar, "Empowering Educators and Students: Mastering Next-Generation AI and Database for the Digital Classroom," was successfully held on 22 September 2026. Sincere thanks go to all participating ICT teachers and students, with special appreciation to Ms. Teresa Wong (Regional Director, Oracle University) and Dr Davy Ng (EdUHK) for their coordination and practical sharing. The session focused on online AI training, certifications, and integrating Oracle Live SQL into curricula. Participants gained valuable insights into database teaching, AI, MySQL, and cloud computing to enhance digital classroom learning. 🎉

數學與資訊科技學系很榮幸支持 SEED Foundation主辦嘅「職場體驗計畫」（Workplace Experience Program, WXP），為中學生提供寶貴機會，親身體驗大學及專業工作環境，拓闊視野，規劃未來。

在計劃期間，學系教師張浩然博士，吳子傑博士，以及香玉梅女士帶領同學深入了解人工智能、教育科技及創新發展趨勢，透過職場體驗、師友指導及生涯交流，認識未來世界所需的知識、技能與思維模式。

是次學習旅程不僅讓同學接觸真實工作環境，更鼓勵他們探索個人興趣與潛能，思考未來升學及職業發展方向。💡

教大數學與資訊科技學系（MIT）汪滌塵博士於 2026 年 9 月 4 日獲邀為藍田循道衛理小學超過 20 位數學科教師主持專業培訓講座，主題為「AI時代數學建模教育的意義」。

On 4 September 2026, Dr WANG, Dichen Daisy from EdUHK’s MIT Department delivered an inspiring training session on Mathematics Modelling Education in the AI Era for over 20 teachers at Lam Tin Methodist Primary School. Through active discussions, Dr WANG guided participants to explore how to apply math modelling concepts to real-life problems for students. She also encouraged them to enroll in MIT’s Professional Development Programmes (PDPs) for further practical AI and mathematics insights.

🤖 MIT×Molekiu專案成果展

數學與資訊科技學系（MIT）與 Molekiu Limited 合作舉辦的 MIT x Molekiu Corporate Project Final Presentation & Showcase 已於 2026 年 8 月 31 日圓滿舉行。

是次企業項目以人工智能及機械人技術應用於長者照顧為主題，學生團隊結合課堂所學與產業實務經驗，為 XLeRobot 家居長者支援機械人提出創新方案，回應香港人口老化所帶來的實際挑戰。

活動匯聚來自 MIT、知識轉移辦公室（KTO）及 Molekiu Limited 的專家代表擔任評審及分享嘉賓，共同見證學生將創意思維轉化為具社會影響力的科技解決方案。透過專題匯報、問答交流與現場示範，同學們充分展現跨學科協作及解決真實問題的能力。

感謝所有合作夥伴、嘉賓及同學的參與，攜手推動大學與業界合作，培育具創新精神及社會責任感的新一代科技人才。

The MIT x Molekiu Corporate Project Final Presentation & Showcase successfully brought together academia and industry to celebrate innovation in AI and robotics for elderly care on 31 August 2026. Students presented creative solutions to enhance the XLeRobot for home-based elderly support, addressing real-world challenges faced by Hong Kong's ageing population. Distinguished guests from MIT, the Knowledge Transfer Office, and Molekiu Limited joined as judges and speakers, highlighting the value of university-industry collaboration. Following engaging presentations, Q&A sessions, and project demonstrations, awards were presented to outstanding teams. The event concluded with networking opportunities, fostering future partnerships and inspiring students to pursue impactful technological innovation.

The Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) successfully held the Departmental Orientation 2026/27 on 28 August 2026, warmly welcoming students enrolled in the BSc(AIET)&BEd(PM), BSc(AIET)&BEd(ICT&PSci), and BSc(AI&EdTech) programmes.

The orientation commenced with a welcoming speech, followed by programme briefings that introduced the key features, curriculum highlights, and learning opportunities of the three undergraduate programmes. Students also attended a dedicated session on Field Experience and Internship, where they gained valuable insights into professional practicum arrangements, internship opportunities, and experiential learning requirements throughout their studies.

The orientation concluded with Meetings between Academic Advisors and Advisees, allowing students to establish early connections with their Academic Advisors and receive guidance on study planning, academic development, and university life.

The Department wishes all new students a rewarding and enriching university experience and looks forward to witnessing their achievements and growth throughout their studies at MIT and EdUHK.

On 21 and 24 August 2026, the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) of The Education University of Hong Kong warmly welcomed new students to its MA(MP), MSc(AI&EdTech), and MSc(ADS) programmes through a series of orientation sessions, marking the beginning of their postgraduate journey at EdUHK. ✨

The orientations introduced students to essential university systems, learning platforms, library services, language support and student resources, while providing valuable insights into programme structures, learning expectations and future career pathways.

From 5-7 August 2026, MIT successfully hosted its 3-Day Summer Programme 2026: A Journey into the Mysteries of AI and Mathematics for secondary school students at the Tai Po Campus.

Through engaging talks on AI, Generative AI, mathematical modelling, STEAM education and emerging educational technologies, together with hands-on workshops, robot demonstrations and campus tours, participants gained valuable insights into the rapidly evolving world of technology and education.

The programme also provided students with opportunities to learn more about MIT’s undergraduate and double-degree programmes, interact with current students, and experience university life first-hand.

教大數學與資訊科技學系（MIT）於2026年7月22日在大埔校園成功舉辦「AI引航：粵港澳大灣區中小學校長論壇暨合作合作簽約儀式」，活動亦為香港教育大學正名十周年誌慶活動之一。

是次論壇匯聚來自大灣區的校長、教育工作者、學者及業界代表，共同探討 AI 賦能教與學、教育創新及大灣區人才培育的發展方向，攜手推動區域教育協作及可持續發展。

On 22 July 2026, the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology of The Education University of Hong Kong hosted the “Leading Schools in the AI Era: Greater Bay Area Forum for Primary and Secondary School Principals cm Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony” at the Tai Po Campus, as part of the University’s 10th Anniversary celebrations. The event served as a strategic platform to promote educational innovation, regional collaboration, and sustainable talent development across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It brought together school principals, educators, researchers, and industry representatives to exchange insights on AI-enhanced teaching and learning. A major highlight was the signing of cooperation agreements between MIT and six partner schools, aiming to expand AI and STEAM learning opportunities, strengthen professional exchange, and foster long-term collaboration. The programme also included school sharing sessions and a round-table discussion on guiding students to use AI responsibly, emphasising AI literacy, ethics, student well-being, and future-ready education.

MIT近期邀請咗加拿大 Athabasca University嘅 Prof Maiga Chang 主講講座「New 21st Century PASV (Passive) Skills Required in the Generative AI’s Era」。

講座中，Prof Maiga 深入淺出咁講解咗 ChatGPT、Gemini 等生成式 AI 嘅運作原理、能力範圍，以及使用者需要注意嘅局限性，幫助大家更理性同有效咁運用 AI。

Prof Maiga 仲用咗一個非常生動嘅比喻：🎮 遊戲設計入面嘅「被動技能」（Passive Skills）。呢類技能會持續發揮作用，為玩家提供長期優勢。以此為基礎，佢提出咗 4 項 AI 時代必備嘅 Passive Skills，幫助我哋更有效同 AI 協作、批判性思考 AI 生成內容，並喺急速變化嘅科技環境下保持學習同工作競爭力。

講座吸引咗唔少學生同學者參與。香港理工大學著名人工智能專家 Prof Hu Xiangen 亦以嘉賓身份出席，並積極參與討論，分享對人工智能最新發展及未來趨勢嘅見解，令交流更加精彩。

Prof Maiga Chang from Athabasca University delivered a lecture on the passive skills needed in the generative AI era. He explained how tools like ChatGPT and Gemini work, their strengths and limitations, and proposed four essential passive skills for effective human-AI collaboration, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Moderated by Dr. Sun Daner, the event also featured Prof. Hu Xiangen, whose insights highlighted the value of cross-institutional AI education and research.
