Il-Ktieb tax-Xahar fil-Melitensia - Ġunju 2026

90 Sena Vuċijiet u Identità: Memorji tax-Xandir Pubbliku miktub minn Sergio Grech; stampat minn 4sight.

Illustrat bir-ritratti, dan il-ktieb jiddokumenta l-istorja u l-iżvilupp tax-xandir pubbliku f’Malta, mill-ħolqien ta’ Redifussion Malta fl-1935 sal-era tax-xandir diġitali tal-lum. Kemm bħala dokument storiku kif ukoll bħala album kommemorattiv, dan il-ktieb jittratta l-evoluzzjoni tar-radju u t-televiżjoni f’Malta; jinkludi wkoll l-esperjenzi ta’ xandara veterani u personalitajiet fil-midja li sawru l-industrija, u jippreżenta memorji ewlenin marbutin mal-Public Broadcasting Services (PBS). Waqt it-tnedija ta’ Frar, il-ktieb ġie deskritt bħala tislima lill-preżentaturi, ġurnalisti, technicians, u ħafna professjonijiet oħra tal-midja li d-dedikazzjoni u l-ħidma tagħhom kienu strumentali għall-iżvilupp tax-xandir Malti matul l-aħħar disgħin sena.

Melitensia Book of the Month - June 2026

90 Sena Vuċijiet u Identità: Memorji tax-Xandir Pubbliku [90 Years of Voices and Identity: Memories of Public Broadcasting] written by Sergio Grech; published by 4sight.

Illustrated with photographs, this book documents the history and development of public broadcasting in Malta, from the creation of Rediffusion Malta in 1935 to today’s era of digital broadcasting. As both a historical document and a commemorative album, this book explores the evolution of radio and television in Malta; it also includes the experiences of veteran broadcasters and media personalities who shaped the industry, and presents key memories associated with the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS). At the launch in February, the book was described as a tribute to the presenters, journalists, technicians, and many other media professionals whose dedication and work were instrumental in the development of Maltese broadcasting over the last ninety years.

📚Book Donation to Melitensia

Today, we had the pleasure of receiving a donation of the publication "25 for 25: Heirlooms for Posterity" from the Friends of the National Archives.

The book was presented on behalf of the NGO by its President, Dr Evelyn Pullicino, together with Vice-President Prof. Charles Farrugia and Editor Prof. George Cassar.

"25 for 25: Heirlooms for Posterity" is a collection of academic contributions published by the Friends of the National Archives of Malta to commemorate the organisation’s 25th anniversary. The publication discusses 25 collections that became part of the National Archives during the past 25 years since the association was established, highlighting the importance of preserving Malta’s documentary and cultural heritage for future generations.

We sincerely thank the Friends of the National Archives for this valuable addition to the Melitensia collection and for their continued dedication to safeguarding and promoting Malta’s archival heritage.
