✨ ACT-AI Academy Transnational Project Meeting in Valencia 🇪🇸
Last week, ACT-AI Academy partners met in Valencia for our Transnational Project Meeting, bringing together researchers, teacher educators, project partners and practising teachers from across Europe to exchange ideas and explore how AI can meaningfully support teaching and learning.
The University of Malta (UM) was represented by two teachers selected to participate in the meeting:
Mr. Ryan Ellul, a pre-service teacher from the University of Malta, currently working at Maria Regina College, Mosta Secondary – Lily of the Valley School.
Dr. Sharon Camilleri Magro, a teacher from St Theresa College, Achille Ferris Primary School, Msida, representing the Maltese state school sector.
Dr Patrick Camilleri, a Faculty of Education academic and expert in AI in Education, attended the meeting and performed a workshop for teachers in Valencia and related to the project.
Their participation provided a valuable opportunity to share perspectives from Malta, exchange experiences with European colleagues and contribute to discussions on the responsible integration of AI in education.
During the meeting, partners:
🔹 Presented the ACT-AI Conceptual Framework and explored its implications for teaching and learning.
🔹 Showcased AI tools and the ACT-AI Academy Digital Platform.
🔹 Engaged in collaborative working groups and hands-on workshops on practical applications of AI in education.
🔹 Shared classroom experiences, emerging practices and lessons learned from teachers across Europe.
🔹 Strengthened collaboration between researchers, teacher educators and practising teachers.
💡 A key highlight was hearing directly from teachers and learning from their experiences, professional judgement and classroom realities. Their perspectives are essential to developing relevant and effective professional learning opportunities around AI.
🤝 Through European collaboration, ACT-AI Academy continues to build bridges between research and classroom practice, working towards a sustainable Teacher Academy that promotes AI literacy and responsible innovation in education.
The ACT-AI project in coordinated in Malta by Prof. Edward Duca and managed by Simeona Mamo, Department of Mathematics and Physics Education.
