We’re excited to welcome Dr. Chan Hyeon Hur, Assistant Professor, to the department!

Dr. Hyeon’s research explores the economic and social impact of sport, including how major moments like hosting the Olympics or signing a superstar can shape the communities around them.

He’s excited to join the FSU Sport Management community while continuing to explore the big research questions that drive his work.

As the summer semester comes to a close, we’d like to highlight one of our other Summer programs in our London trip.

From touring Lord’s Cricket Ground to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, our students gained a greater understanding of how the global sports industry operates and the cross-cultural variations involved around participating in global sporting arenas.

Over 8,000 work hours have been completed by our students via internships and our practicum program.

We are so proud of the hard work our Noles put into the Sport Management field and the connections they can make though completing these hours!

Global Sport Management Valencia 2026 is off to a fantastic start!

Our students have already immersed themselves in a variety of unique sport and business experiences across Valencia. Highlights so far include learning and playing colpbol, a locally developed inclusive sport, visiting a local water polo club (and getting in the pool themselves!), pitching sport entrepreneurial ideas at EDEM, one of Valencia’s premier business and entrepreneurship schools, and touring the home of Valencia UD.

These hands-on experiences provide students with valuable insights into the global sport industry while connecting classroom concepts to real-world practice.

Stay tuned as our Summer 2026 study abroad programs continue to explore the intersection of sport, culture, and business in Spain!

Florida State University has been selected to establish the world's first UNESCO Chair in Sport Ecology.

Led by Dr. Timothy Kellison in the FSU Department of Sport Management, this four-year partnership will support research, education and public management focused on the relationship between port, environmental sustainability and global policy.

We are proud to see our department helping lead an important and growing area of scholarship with implications for sport organizations around the world.
