From launching a new era for the Herbert Wertheim College of Business through his historic $65 million investment to creating the Wertheim Laureate Prize, Dr. Wertheim continues to expand the impact of philanthropy at FSU and beyond!
Dr. Herbert Wertheim, a billionaire optometrist, inventor and philanthropist and the namesake and largest benefactor of Florida State University - Herbert Wertheim College of Business, has announced the Wertheim Laureate Prize, which annually will invite eligible Nobel Prize laureates in physiology or medicine to direct $1 million in philanthropic capital to causes they believe will do the most good.
It also will invite those laureates to share their knowledge with students, physicians and researchers through an international lecture and visitation program at Wertheim institutions and affiliates across the world, including FSU.
Dr. Wertheim’s $65 million investment became the largest philanthropic endowment gift in FSU’s history and launched the business college into a new era of preeminence.
