NEW ISSUE OF THE JOURNAL OF MEDITERRANEAN STUDIES PUBLISHED

The Mediterranean Institute is delighted to announce the publication of the latest issue of the Journal of Mediterranean Studies. Issue 33.1 carries an intriguing line-up of articles that bring new and cutting-edge Mediterranean Studies research to our extensive international readership. The new JMS issue includes new work on the 2023 presidential election in Turkey (Ahmad Sahide et al), minority language maintenance and identity formation in Greece (Nikos Gogognas et al.), William Faulkner’s writing in a southern Mediterranean context (Mourad Romdhani), ‘La Romana’ and the discourse of self-deception Alberto Castelli), the Greco-Turkish conflict in literature (Berna Koseoglu), and French theatres in the Ottoman capital (Nazende Yilmaz). The book review featured in this issue, penned by our Book Reviews editor Prof. Krista Bonello Rutter Giappone, addresses ‘The Shadow: Poems for the Children of Gaza’ poetry anthology, edited by Ahmed Miqdad and John P. Portelli.

This is the first JMS issue edited by Dr Maurice Said, now published by the Mediterranean Institute in collaboration with Malta University Press, and yours truly as managing editor. I’d like to thank, in particular, the General Editor Dr Maurice Said and Ms Krista Bonnici for the excellent work and co-ordination in the lead-up to this issue. Should you wish to stay abreast of the forthcoming issues of the Journal — coming up very soon — and associated events, please keep an eye on the Mediterranean Institute FB page as well as this space.

The double-blind peer reviewed, internationally indexed and accredited Journal of Mediterranean Studies is hosted on the prestigious Project Muse (Johns Hopkins UP) platform and now stands at H-Index 15, having moved several points upwards in recent years.

At the Mediterranean Institute we remain committed to publishing the best of transdisciplinary research and scholarship on and from across the Mediterranean.
